A Journey of Faith…
In the summer of 1977, our founders Pastor Mike and Trisha began to experience a stirring from God to plant a church near San Jose, CA. Arriving in San Jose in October of 1978, they began to prepare to minister in a city they had never visited before. Small beginnings with a Bible study in their home in South San Jose soon overflowed to a bank building and swim club. After outgrowing these facilities, the new church family moved into the Cupertino YMCA on Easter Sunday 1979.

The Move…
In the beginning weeks of 1981, through prayer, the Holy Spirit opened Isaiah 58:12 to the church leaders: “Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.” After this, the leaders began the process of looking for a permanent church home, and they began to search the waste places of the community. Soon they came upon an old boarded-up grocery store in Campbell. Without adequate funds, but a God-inspired faith, this began a 25-year journey to acquire all six commercial parcels on six acres of land. Today Home Church owns this property entirely debt-free. Stamped in our DNA is support for missionaries across the globe and service to our local community. Throughout these years, God has proven Himself faithful, and hundreds of new believers are the fruit of this work.
“For faith to be real, we must be pressed out of our abilities and resources into His great grace.”
Our Future…
Pastor Mike began transitioning into retirement in 2015, during which time he assisted the elders in the selection of a senior pastor to replace him. It was with the unanimous approval of the elders that Hector Moreno was anointed to fill this position. Hector and his wife Chrissie have served faithfully in nearly every area of church ministry over a period of 25 plus years. Hector was ordained as a pastor many years ago while continuing to earn his income as a successful attorney. Hector and Chrissie have responded to this call of God with renewed faith and trust that God is opening a new chapter in the life of Home Church.
